Update: Turns out LG won't officially be bringing the LG V20 to the UK market. According to well-known online retailer Clove UK, the firm has heard directly from LG itself that the handset will be skiping over our little island. Why on earth this keeps happening, particularly with Korean OEMs, remains a mystery, but it's kinda their loss really as they can't make money from NOT selling us phones. Grumpy British rant over.
However, the emphasis there is on "officially", because Clove (for one) has decided it will import LG V20 units frm other European regions, and you can probably expect other UK distributors to follow suit. What's unknown at this stage is how much that's likely to cost the customer, and also if things like warranties will remain viable and intact.
Well this is a bit nuts. Although Google has officially begun rolling out the Android 7 Nougat update to existing Nexus devices, it is also usually the first to hit the market with new hardware running its new software...except this time it's not. Nope, LG has beat Google to the punch. According to the rumour mill Google will release its new Nexus replacement brand, the Pixel phone and the Pixel XL, on October 4, but here we are on September 7 with the LG V20 being launched packing Nougat goodness already!
LG is positioning the V20 as a premium model aimed at competing with the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 and it is indeed a similarly sized phablet featuring a 5.7in QHD LCD display. However, here's the kicker, or should we say ticker, because it has a smaller always-on strip display above this, next to the front-facing camera. The rear-facing camera setup is similar to the firm's flagship LG G5 in that it features a dual-sensor arrangement; a 16MP sensor and an 8MP wide-angle sensor working in tandem. It has a dual-LED flash, hybrid autofocus, and pro shooting mode allowing for fine tuning of every shot.
On the inside you're looking at Qualcomm's Snapdragon 820 CPU with 4GB of RAM, as well as 64GB of storage, microSD support, AND, crucially, LG has carried across the removable battery from the LG G5 too.
We also have a preview of the colour options...
