There's been a bit of back-and-forth on the subject of the iPhone 7's 3.5mm headphone jack, or lack thereof depending on which side of the argument you listen to, but today a set of rendered CAD schematics has emerged via a reliable source which seems to put the debate to bed. The images emerged on Twitter via the returning team-up of @Onleaks (nowhereelse.fr) and USwitch, the loose-knit group which previously brought us similar looking schematics of the iPad Pro ahead of its launch and which turned out to be 100% correct, so there's good reason to suppose these are legit.
OK I think you got it... #iPhone7 & iPhone7 Plus/Pro Factory CAD on behalf of @uSwitchTech! https://t.co/s1U9w2cY4V pic.twitter.com/NSTjUgTpJ3

As per previous rumours, the schematics show the absence of a traditional 3.5mm headphone jack, apparently confirming taht the iPhone 7 design omits this piece of hardware in favour of a proprietary set of Apple headphones which operate via the existing Lightning port and which may also function wirelessly. Earlier rumours have also said Apple will provide an adaptor for use with conventional headphones. The schematics also show that the new generation of iPhone 7 handsets will have the same dimensions and style as the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus, again confirming previous rumours that this will NOT be a major design overhaul. In addition, the larger model, which may be dubbed the iPhone Pro, appears to have a Smart Connector of the type seen on the iPad Pro line, again sitting with an earlier rumour that the new model will be compatible with iPad Pro accessories, or accessories in this style which may be launched with the iPhone 7/iPhone Pro and purpose-built for it. The connector is also rumoured to be able to transfer power and data between devices.
Lastly, again with the larger model, there's a wider camera port on the rear which sits with earlier rumours for a dual-camera sensor setup similar to what we've seen on the LG G5 and Huawei P9. It's been claimed the dual-sensor setup heading for the iPhone will enable DLSR levels of image quality and also could allow extensive post-processing due to the amount of image data captured by two sensors. The new features also allegedly require more RAM aboard the phone, with 3GB or 4GB being suggested by some sources.
