Making phones is a tricky business. You try your hardest, as Google has done this past couple of years, adding in advanced imaging and top of the line chips, and you hardly make a dent.

The first Pixel phones did not sell well. The Pixel 2 phones did slightly better, though were definitely a little wonkier than their predecessors with respect to overall stability.

(My Pixel 2 XL simply died and wouldn’t switch back on).

The third generation of Pixel, however, should be a much different story. Google’s learned its lessons, found its footing, and will hopefully release something that is very, very impressive.

Google Pixel 3 LEAKS

All the current Google Pixel 3 leaks point to this. We’re looking at vastly improved design, better specs, and an even better camera – through the Pixel and Pixel 2’s imaging was certainly no slouch.

The most exciting release is always the XL model.

Why? It’s bigger, has better specs and is for all intents and purposes, Google’s de facto flagship release.

I had something of a love/hate relationship with the Pixel 2 XL. In that, when I first started using it I loved it.

But then, after three months, it just died – and I couldn’t bring it back. And this is why I ended up hating it.

Google Pixel 3 XL

So my BIGGEST hope for Google’s Pixel 3 handsets is that they’re more stable.

I don’t really have any complaints about their processing power or camera performance. Those aspects were basically perfect, so the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL should be very, very good in this regard.

As someone that has used every single Pixel model since launch, my main WANTS for the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL are pretty simple:

• Make them look better.

To date, Google’s design language for its Pixel phones has been, well… utterly rubbish.

They’re not ugly, but they’re definitely not going to win any prizes for industrial design.

If Google can get this aspect right, as well as make sure they don’t suffer from RPDS (Random Phone Death Syndrome), I think the Pixel 3 handsets could well be the phones that pit Google more closely with the best of the rest.

(Meaning everyone that’s not Apple and Samsung).
