In late August, at the IFA 2017 expo, Sony announced the Xperia XA1 Plus and it is now finally arriving in the UK market. As the Plus moniker suggests, the Xperia XA1 Plus is a bigger version of the Xperia XA1 with an enlarged display, but it also has a number of other specs enhanced as well.
The 5.5in IPS LCD display is a standard 16:9 aspect ratio (this isn't a fancy edge-to-edge dealio) with a Full HD 1080p resolution. It also adds in a fingerprint scanner, a larger 3,430mAh battery, enhanced audio hardware, dual-SIM support, and bumps the RAM up from 3GB to 4GB.
The processor is the same as before; a Mediatek MT6757 Helio P20 octa-core CPU. As is the camera hardware; a 23MP Exmor RS primary sensor on the back and 8MP secondary on the front. Onboard storage is 32GB, plus microSD card support, and there's a Type-C USB port too.
While the Xperia XA1 Plus is more expensive than its predecessor, it's still nice and affordable as a mid-range device. It's a Carphone Warehouse exclusive, where you can buy it SIM-free and unlocked for £329.99, although of course you can instead go for a network contract and payment plan to spread the cost if you wish.
