We've been hearing for a while that the Samsung Galaxy S9 series will be making its debut at MWC 2018 in Barcelona this February, likely at one of Samsung's usual "Samsung Unpacked" branded events. Now though, we have pretty solid evidence apparently not only confirming that the phones will launch on day one of MWC - February 26 - but also when pre-orders will begin AND the subsequent release date, when pre-orders will also arrive.
The word comes via reliable tipster Evan Blass, aka @evleaks on Twitter, who tweeted that he had heard from a "C-level executive at a major casemaker". Doubt that source if you will, but for our money if Blass thought it was worth mentioning then it's probably solid.
Said source mentioned the launch event would take place on February 26. After which, pre-orders would begin on March 1. Additionally, pre-orders will be fulfilled by March 16, which is when the phones will go on general sale at retail in stores and online.
The news confirms many earlier reports, including those which suggested Samsung would aim to have the Galaxy S9 released a full month before the Galaxy S8 series launched in 2017 - where they arrived in April.
