We've seen multiple rumours and leaks in circulation which have essentially confirmed the existence of a new 2018 re-boot of the Galaxy A Series in-development. This includes the Galaxy A3, Galaxy A5, and Galaxy A7. Now though, we're seeing actual confirmation from Samsung itself, albeit apparently unintentional.
The info comes via Roland Quandt on Twitter, pointing to the not-that-unusual avenue of a Samsung support page on the firm's official website in South Korea. The page mentions an un-announced device labelled as the Samsung SM-A530, which fits in perfectly with the naming progression of the Galaxy A5, from the original SM-A500, through to 2016's and 2017's models as the SM-A510 and SM-A520 respectively - clearly the SM-A530 is the 2018 edition of the Galaxy A5.
The support page doesn't reveal any other information about the handset, or any of the other 2018 A-Series phones. We've seen solid evidence of the Galaxy A7 2018 already, but not much regarding the Galaxy A3 2018; the lower spec model of the series.
From earlier leaks, we know the Galaxy A5 2018 will feature an all-metal build with a 5.5in 18:9 aspect ratio Infinity Display using Samsung's Super AMOLED technology with a 1080 x 2160 pixel resolution. It won't have curved edges, but will have a full fascia layout with the fingerprint scanner moving to the rear panel. It'll also have a Samsung Exynos 7885 processor inside, along with 4GB of RAM, while the bodywork will be water proofed.
Previous years have seen the Galaxy A-Series launching VERY early in the calendar, so we're expecting it to arrive soon inside 2018. The Galaxy S9 is also expected in Q1 2018 as well and Samsung will likely want to get the A-Series onto market first, so that should mean it'll be out very quickly after we ring in the New Year.
