OnePlus just released a teaser on its Facebook page, which if you read between the lines suggests the OnePlus 5T, the firm's next expected flagship device, will feature a headphone jack.
The teaser shows the baseplate of every OnePlus smartphone to date, showing the speaker grilles, charging ports, and headphone jack layout, and was posted together with the tagline "what do our phones have in common?"
That is, of course, wide open to interpretation; they all have charging ports for one thing, although they're not all in the same place. Likewise, they all have speakers, but only three of them have a punched hole speaker design in the baseplate.
The only consistent thing across all six - the OnePlus One, OnePlus Two, OnePlus X, OnePlus 3, OnePlus 3T, and OnePlus 5 - is they all have a 3.5mm audio jack in the baseplate. That, plus the fact that OnePlus' post featured a little musical note emoji tacked on the end suggests to us it's all about the audio jack.
It's a fair point to raise as well, considering many rival firms are axing the 3.5mm jack in favour of using the Type-C USB port with specially made headphones. It can result in enhanced audio quality, but it does make things less flexible when you consider that most of the high-end headphone market uses 3.5mm connectors.
The OnePlus 5T is the next phone due to arrive following on from the OnePlus 5; tipsters say it'll be launched in late November, November 16 has been mentioned, while other sources say it'll arrive after November 20 - one plausible explanation is it could launch on November 16 and arrive at retail after November 20.
The phone will feature a similar spec sheet to the OnePlus 5, including the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor and 6GB of RAM. It will, however, feature an enlarged 6in edge-to-edge display with an 18:9 aspect ratio - keeping on trend with rivals - plus it is thought the dual-sensor camera will be upgraded too.
