The OnePlus 5T rumours have done a complete 180 on what was happening before - it looked very much like a OnePlus 5T was not happening, and that the OnePlus 6 would be the next model in 2018.
That's all changed with word from several sources, including none other than @evleaks, saying the phone will arrive towards the end of November. It's also shown up in benchmark results.
OnePlus CEO Carl Pei has previously been evasive when questioned about the firm's plans - including the OnePlus 5 stock shortages - but has now teased a photo of a "great camera" on social media with a shot that some believe may have been taken on the OnePlus 5T.
There was an element of WILL THEY, WON’T THEY around the release of the OnePlus 5T, but all that now appears to have gone by the wayside, as the release of the handset looks all but certain.
The key new thing will be how it looks; OnePlus appears to have completely rejigged the OnePlus 5’s design this time around, making the bezels smaller and moving the fingerprint scanner round the back.
There will also be new specs and, perhaps, an updated camera that’ll bring the handset more inline with Google’s Pixel 2 and Samsung’s Galaxy Note 8.
The main reason for this re-release of the OnePlus 5 though is that OnePlus doesn’t really have anything new in the pipeline for Q4, which is the busiest shopping period of the year. Having a new handset in the mix during this time of year makes a lot of sense.
This is why Apple’s iPhones ALWAYS launch late-on in the year.
And now some images have shown up on Weibo, one a photo of the front of the handset, and the other a digital render of the rear. The front shows us the 18:9 aspect ratio edge-to-edge display, while on the back we can see the dual-camera sensor and the relocated fingerprint scanner.
