The hottest flagship of 2017 is available for pre-order on Friday, October 27th. Yes, I’m of course talking about the iPhone X.
To say there is pent-up demand for this phone would be an understatement. It’s the first radical re-design to the iPhone in three years. It’s also probably the most radical re-design to the iPhone ever.
The iPhone X features a stunning edge-to-edge OLED display and killer dual-lens camera system. Furthermore, it completely eliminated the Home button in favor for virtual gesture-based Home controls. And let's not forget the iPhone X also has the controversial Face ID biometric authentication system.
But if you want to get one this year things aren’t looking good. As the Nikkei reports:
“Initial shipments of Apple's highly anticipated iPhone X are expected to total around 20 million units, only half the planned amount for this year, The Nikkei has learned."
"The reduction stems from the California-based company's struggles to solve technical issues with components supporting the model's new face authentication feature."
"The X is the first iPhone to adopt an organic light-emitting diode display and do away with the home button. At the beginning of mass production, defects occurred in the bonding process for the OLED panels, and although the problem was largely resolved around July, problems continued in assembly of the face authentication module. Manufacturers were only able to improve the first pass yield -- the number of good units -- toward the end of September.”
So yeah, that doesn’t bode well for people who want to grab the hottest phone of the year before 2018. Of course, that hasn’t stopped Apple from opening up pre-orders for the device this Friday (before it’s official launch on November 3rd). We’re not joking when we say we expect the iPhone X pre-orders to be sold out in a matter of minutes. But if that doesn’t deter you, here’s how you can best attempt to pre-order the iPhone X.

iPhone X Pre-Order: Pre-Order Online
The place most people will try to pre-order from is Apple’s Online Store. Honestly, we’ll be shocked if the store doesn’t crash under the demand of tens of millions trying to pre-order a device which rumors say Apple will only have 3 million of. Keep hitting refresh if you can’t get through.
iPhone X Pre-Order: Pre-Order Using The Apple Store App
If you aren’t having luck with the website and already have an iPhone or iPad, try using Apple’s Apple Store app. You can download the app here. This might be a better option as this way is likely to be used far less frequently than people trying to pre-order through the website.
iPhone X Pre-Order: Pre-Order Through Your Carrier
Your final option is to try to pre-order the iPhone X through your carrier. Carrier supplies are likely to be even more constrained, but it’s worth a go if you badly want to get an iPhone X ASAP. We’ve provided links to UK carrier pre-order pages below.
