The Google Pixel 3 release date is still a good few months away, but that hasn’t stopped a steady stream of leaks from hitting the web.
We already know quite a bit about the handset, though this latest leak shows the Pixel 3 in white (and there are several shots).
The images were leaked on XDA’s forum by a user, and while the phone in question isn’t switched on in any of them, we can glean quite a few details about it from the images.
As expected:
- There is no notch on the Pixel 3;
- It runs a single lens camera on the rear;
- The design is pretty pedestrian.
Google Pixel 3 Design
I was hoping for something a little more dramatic in the design department this time around.
Google might be saving all the design quirks for the XL model, I hope and is instead keeping the entry model as simple as possible.
The reason? It might be cheaper than last year’s Pixel 2 – that’s a possibility (though a slim one).
Google Pixel 3 Specs
Not much is known regarding specs, but we’re likely to see Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 CPU at the fore, alongside 4-6GB of RAM, and multiple storage options ranging from 32GB to 128GB.
Android P will be the star of the show, as the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL will be the first handsets to run it. Beyond this, expect minor updates to an already-incredible imaging setup and further power optimizations.
The Pixel 2 vs Pixel 3
Google’s Pixel 2 was a solid handset with a great camera and an awesome battery life. This means Google doesn’t really have to do too much with the overall pitch of the device.
This is likely why it has left much of the core experience alone, and only implemented a few choices minor physical updates in the design department.
It still has those UGLY bezels, though, which is annoying. I was really hoping Google would ditch them, but alas it looks as if they’re here to stay in 2018/19.
Google Pixel 3 Price
The most interesting aspect of the Pixel 3 will be how much it costs.
Why? Because there are TONS of rumors about Google either A) releasing a super-premium Pixel phone and/or B) doing a cheaper Pixel phone.
No one can seem to agree on which, however…
I’d love to see a cheaper Pixel phone, and the fact that this handset looks VERY similar to what came before leads me to believe that it might just be a smidge cheaper than what came before.
