That’s a bummer… Crackdown 3, one of the Xbox One X’s most intriguing titles, is officially delayed until 2018

The Xbox One X will land later on this year, bringing with it true 4K gaming to Xbox for the first time. The hype around Microsoft’s new console has been huge, even more so after its official launch earlier this year.

However, one of the Xbox One X’s biggest titles, Crackdown 3, has now been officially delayed until 2018. And this is rather depressing, as the game itself was first, officially launched WAY BACK in 2014.

So what’s the deal? Why has Crackdown 3 been delayed?

“We’re very excited about Crackdown 3, and so are many fans, and so it’s a difficult call to move the release date,” Microsoft Studios Publishing general manager Shannon Loftis tells Polygon. “However, we want to make sure to deliver the right game, with the right quality, and at the right time.” Part of the extra time will be spent to improve the game's “visual polish,” Loftis says.

The original Crackdown was one hell of a game, and, while Crackdown 2 wasn’t quite as good, the third game in the series is expected to be truly epic, thanks to the increased potency of Microsoft’s Xbox One X console and the all the awesomeness that’ll bring to the mix.

Here’s the official trailer for Crackdown 3:

Don’t be too glum, though! Forza Motorsport 7, Cuphead, Super Lucky’s Tale, and Battlegrounds will all be available once the Xbox One X goes on sale later on this year. I know a lot of punters, myself included, will be gutted about Crackdown 3’s delay but there should still be plenty of benefits for early adopters.

The next installment of COD will be on market just before the Xbox One X arrives, for instance, then we have Battlefront 2 to look forward to, as well as plenty of other games that might have gone under my radar.
