Until Dawn release date: When is Until Dawn coming out?

Supermassive Games has finally announced the release date viaPlayStation Blogfor the much anticipated Until Dawn - 26 August 2015 in PAL territories and 28 August 2015 in the UK and Ireland. Check out the announcement trailer below:

Prior to the announcement, there were rumours spreading of a June release, mainly thanks to a listing on Amazon.dewhich briefly showed a 24 June release date. That alone may have been down to human error, but it wasn't the only German retailer posting a 24 June release - MediaMarkt andSpielegrotte also displayed the same release date, and like Amazon, has since been removed.

Demos were playable duringGamescom 2014 and got rave reviews from games critics, with EuroGamer calling it the "horror-themed Heavy Rain you've been waiting for," and Gamespot describing it as "absolutely terrifying."

Until Dawn: Gameplay, storyline & features

Supermassive Games originally unveiled Until Dawn back in 2012 as a PlayStation 3 game that took advantage of the then new and popular PlayStation Move feature. However, during Gamescom 2014 in August, Sony and Supermassive reintroduced the game as a PS4 exclusive, with all-new features that use the PS4 DualShock 4 controller's touchpad, gyro and gesture capabilities.

"When eight friends are trapped on a remote mountain retreat and things quickly turn sinister, they start to suspect they aren't alone," reads Supermassive Games' website. "Gripped by fear and with tensions running high, you'll be forced to make snap decisions that could mean life, or death, for everyone involved."

Like Heavy Rain and The Walking Dead video game, Until Dawn is heavily based on the decisions you make. "Every choice you make in your terrifying search for answers – even the seemingly trivial ones – will carve out your own unique story… your actions alone will device who survives until dawn."

You'll get to play as each of the eight friends throughout the game, which are played by a famous cast including Heroes star Hayden Panettiere and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D actor Brett Dalton.

Until Dawn is based on the Killzone Shadowfall Engine to help bring powerful rendering capabilities to the game, and Supermassive says that it has introduced major enhancements to lighting, camera and animation systems for the new game.
