If you want some 4K gaming action, but you’re on a strict budget, don’t fret – you still have options!

After years and years of slow adoption, both by consumers and content providers alike, 4K (or UHD) is now pretty much mainstream.

Sky, Netflix, Amazon and both Sony and Microsoft now widely support the standard, so there really has never been a better time to pick up a 4K TV.

High-End 4K TVs Will Cost You A LOT of Money

If you want an OLED or High-End 4K TV with advanced screen technology, you’re going to have to pay for it – and, yes, I’m talking about thousands of pounds here.

A 4K OLED TV is basically the dream for many, but the reality of their prices – around £2000-£5000 – makes them largely unobtainable for many.

Best Deal: John Lewis – £2299.99

LG’s 65in OLED TV is a freakin monster and is probably the best TV around right now, but its costs…. Wait for it, £3455.55!!!

So unless you’re a flush millionaire, footballer, or a seriously high-earner, this just isn’t going to be doable.

Best Budget Gaming TV Option For 2018?

Thankfully, you can pick up a VERY decent 4K TV from Samsung for less than £500 in mid-2018.

The Samsung UE50MU6120 is a 50in 4K Smart TV with fully-integrated HDR. It’s also curved, just in case that’s something you look for in a TV.

Best Deal: Samsung – £399.99

And because it’s a smart TV you have a built-in internet connection, access to a myriad of applications, and, of course, Freeview TV.

Beyond this, Samsung has thrown in its usual gamut of goodies, which include:

  • Smart Hub – This is where you can access ALL of your TV’s latent features. Get access to exclusive content, box sets, and movies. You can also use S-Voice to issue voice commands to the TV as well.
  • Samsung TV Plus – Here you can buy and rent all the latest movies and blockbusters and stream them in 4K
  • Smart Upscaling – Whatever you play on the TV will be upscaled to 4K, and that means EPIC YouTube sessions.
  • HDR Dynamic Range With Streaming – HDR provides brighter whites and darker blacks, so whatever is playing on your TV (including games) will look and feel way more immersive.

So, yeah… you don’t REALLY need to pay thousands of pounds to get a good, 4K smart TV. Not really, anyway!
