So far 2017 seems to be the year of the wide aspect ratio phone; we've had both Samsung's Galaxy S8 series and the LG G6 with 18.5:9 and 18:9 ratio displays utterly dominating the frontage of these devices.

But now, following the Xperia XZ Premium, Sony may be due to launch a revived Xperia Ultra brand device with the Xperia X Ultra - it'll have a massive touch display, featuring a 21:9 aspect ratio!

The 6.45-in display panel will tower over both offerings from Samsung and LG, but so far there's no word on the resolution. The info comes via Mobilexpose, which also has a few concept renders based on leaked details.

We are apparently looking at two colour choices; red and grey, IP68 waterproofing, and stereo speakers as standard. The report also suggests 64GB of onboard storage, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 CPU and 4GB of RAM. Android Nougat 7.0 is also onboard, alongside a 3,050mAh battery cell with Quick Charge. Imaging includes both a 19MP primary and a 13MP front-facing secondary.
