All of the Samsung Galaxy S8's specs, features and details have been leaked online

Phone retailer Mobilefun has listed the Samsung Galaxy S8 on its webstore, revealing a SIM-free pre-order price of £799 including VAT, as well as all the details, specs and features of the handset. The listing is for the unlocked 64GB capacity onboard storage edition in a black colour option.

Now, this is very pricy – very pricy, indeed. But we kind of expected this next phase of Android and iPhone flagships to be pricy.

It’s the regular Galaxy S8 with a 5.8in display, not the larger Galaxy S8 Plus, with the description reading, “this Samsung smartphone is ready for anything you can throw at it!”

Still, though, £800 for the basic model is border-line crazy, as there’s not a huge amount of difference in the costs associated with building this handset than there was with last year’s model.

If you want a higher storage model, based on these prices, then you’re basically looking at £1000+ which, again, is a hell of a lot of money for a phone (even one as nice-looking at the new Galaxy S8).

Apple will likely wade in at the end of the year too with a £1000+ iPhone. This is likely the main reason why Samsung hiked its price up so much; it knew Apple was going too and figured it’d get in on the action.

Samsung Galaxy S8 Specifications

  • Screen size: 5.8"
  • Display resolution: 1440 x 2960 pixels
  • Processor: Qualcomm MSM8998 Snapdragon 835
  • Storage: 64GB
  • Memory: 4GB RAM
  • Rear facing camera: 12 megapixels
  • Front facing camera: 8 megapixels
  • Operating System: Android
  • Battery size: 3000mAh
  • Micro SD support: Yes, up to 256GB

This also proves that the international variant will be getting the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, although it remains unclear whether the Samsung Exynos model will be an Asian exclusive or a North American one.

Other listed features include:

  • Stunning curved display
  • 5.8" QHD resolution
  • IP68 certified

So that confirms a QHD display NOT a 4K one, and water and dust proofing. Plus we know the display tech will be, as always, Samsung’s latest and greatest Super AMOLED with excellent sharpness, brightness, contrast, and super accurate colour. Last year’s Galaxy S7 display was one of the best mobile display panels ever, and we have no reason to believe the Galaxy S8’s will be any kind of step backwards.

The price is on the expensive side for this base model, but fairly well in-line with the rumours that this would be a pricier Galaxy flagship. We can expect the Galaxy S8 Plus to be at least £100 more expensive on top of this base price as well. This leak would also appear to confirm that the Galaxy S8 won’t sport a dual-camera. Plenty of rumours would indicate the Galaxy S8 series will skip a dual-camera setup, even though the new Samsung Exynos processor is capable of dual-image processing.

The launch will still take place on March 29, but it’s believed the release date globally has slipped back to April 28.
