The OnePlus 5 will launch later this year and one of the biggest updates it will feature is to do with its camera

Now the dust has settled on the Galaxy S8 and LG G6, all eyes are on what OnePlus will do with its next “flagship killer” handset – the OnePlus 5.

The company had a terrific 2016 with the release of the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T. These handsets made the company a lot of friends during the past 18 months and OnePlus is keen to build on this momentum inside 2017.

OnePlus will almost certainly stick to its tried and tested approach to phones – big specs, mid-range pricing – for the OnePlus 5 and we know the firm is testing the phone right now under the codename A5000.

However, we’ve now got our first look at what the new camera inside the OnePlus 5 might be like. The leak comes via True-Tech, which claims the images pictured below were taken on the OnePlus 5, and offers up a glimpse of what we can expect regarding imaging from OnePlus in 2017.

As you can see, there is plenty of detail in these shots and even some choice blurring, indicating we could be looking at a dual-lens setup on the OnePlus 5.

Of course, the EXIF data could easily have been faked – that’s always a consideration when dealing with leaks. But if it isn’t then what we have above is an actual shot taken by the incoming OnePlus 5.

Imaging is a huge draw these days, as every major player, including Google with its awesome Pixel phones, has really upped their respective games during the past 12 months, closing the gap between Android phones and Apple’s iPhone.

Will the OnePlus 5 have a dual-lens system? Leaks indicate it will and I for one believe OnePlus will almost certainly include this feature; if it wants to be seriously considered alongside the Galaxy S8 and LG G6 it kind of has too.

Beyond this updates for the handset include Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 CPU, 6-8GB of RAM, a switch to QHD panels for the display tech and further refinements to the overall design and feel of the handset.

This is one release I am super excited about. Check out our detailed analysis of ALL the OnePlus 5 rumours so far for a more detailed break down of the handset.
