I recently decided to get myself an electric guitar. I got a great deal, so I figured I’d do a post in case anyone else was in the market

Picking a new guitar is tricky. There are many options to consider, as well as budgets.

A lot of the time, choosing a guitar depends on what style of music you want to play.

If you’re a shredder that wants to riff like Meshuggah you’re going to want a different style of axe from somebody interested in playing free jazz or the blues.

However, one thing we can all agree on is this: you want a good deal and you want quick delivery – no one likes waiting for stuff, after all!

Best Place To Buy Guitars Online

I ended up getting my guitar (an Epiphone Dot) via Amazon in the end. I got it for £256 – or, about £80 less than it retailed for in my local music shop.

I also have an Amazon Prime account, so I got it the next day (for free).

Amazon also has a HUGE array of guitars on offer as well. Way more than I thought – and it covers all budgets too.

From absolute beginner setups (like this one), right on up to really expensive, custom models (like this badass setup).

Acoustic Guitar?

After an acoustic? No problem. Amazon has them too – in fact, it has A LOT of them, as well as tons of accessories for making your acoustic guitar play through an amp.

And like before, it has beginner acoustic guitars and advanced, premium acoustic guitars.

Basically, if you know what you’re looking for with respect to make and model, Amazon is a great option when it comes to picking up a new guitar.

Best Online Guitar Store?

It’s not the best online guitar store. Finding out which is the best, out of all the thousands of retailers online is impossible. But for me, it is great for the following reasons:

  • Next day delivery (with Prime)
  • Great prices (always cheaper than the high street)
  • You can get amps and picks and leads there too

Should You Try Before You Buy?

With a guitar, I’d say, yes – you should 100% know what you’re getting before you buy.

I hadn’t tried mine before I bought it, but I knew it was what I was looking for based on all the reviews and videos I had watched.

Plus, if I didn’t like it, I could just as easily return it and get a refund.

Again, this is another great thing about Amazon – returns are super simple.

For me, the main thing I liked about Amazon’s guitar selection was A) they have LOADS of options, B) they have great prices, and C) with Prime you can get your new axe the next day (for free).

Don’t just take my word for it, though – have a look at Amazon’s selection of guitars and see for yourself!
