Nvidia has upgraded the Shield TV (2015) with 4K Amazon Video streaming anf gaming support

Nvidia's 2015 Shield TV device has now been updated to Android Nougat 7.0, which, as well as adding a bunch of delicious Nougaty features, also adds in support for loads of other new services and features; notably Amazon Video and 4K streaming support.

Of the Android Nougat features, a recent apps page is accessible by double tapping the Home key, as well as a new and improved Settings menu, and picture-in-picture support.

But the bundled-in extras include support for the Nest connected home suite, the Nvidia Games Apps hub, and support for both HBO GO and Amazon Video for streaming - which is also where the 4K HDR streaming capabilities come in. An Amazon Prime membership will enable on-demand video services and Amazon exclusives, such as The Grand Tour.

The Nvidia Games Apps is a hub for finding exclusive Nvidia Shield Android games and content available via Nvidia GameStream games - allowing you to stream games to your device remotely. All installed games will show up on the games row on the Shield homescreen.

On-demand PC games will now support enhanced performance compatible with GeForce GTX 1080 gaming PC graphics. Nvidia GameStream has also been upgraded to support 4K HDR and lower latency streaming.

Nest support enables user to view live video from Nest Cameras positioned in their home via a new Nest application now compatible with Shield. A

Another neat tweak is support for writing to attached USB or SD storage cards. The update will be pushed via Google Play and should be available for most users in the coming days.

You can pick up your NVIDIA Shield TV right now for $199 via NEWEGG; or, if you're in the UK, either £189 for the 16GB version or £289 for the 500GB version for the brand new version, direct from Curry's.

Or... direct from NVIDIA itself.
