When it rains, it pours. At least when you’re talking about the weather in the UK or Nokia’s upcoming Android phone campaign. Just last week we got our first look at the Nokia 6, a China Exclusive.

And now we’ve got a launch date for the second Nokia Android phone. It’ll land at MWC 2017 on February 26. This isn’t rumour, either – the news comes direct from Nokia’s new owners, HMD.

HMD confirmed the news on Facebook: “more announcements to follow on February 26th.”

What we’ll see on the 26th remains to be seen. But seeing that the Nokia 6 is a fairly mid-range affair, it does look pretty likely we’ll see a flagship handset unveiled.

HMD has confirmed that it plans to compete in all sectors of the market from low-end to high-end, so a flagship announcement at MWC 2017 – AKA the biggest mobile show on earth – would definitely be something a lot of people would be chuffed about.

I’m looking forward to a return of Nokia’s classic design language. I miss the days of the Lumia 1020 and Lumia 1520, both of which were awesome looking phones.

Combine this with Android, some decent imaging technology and a whole host of software tweaks and additions and we could be looking at something very compelling indeed.

Prior to its takeover, Nokia was innovating A LOT. Whether with display technology, cameras, call quality, or software, the company consistently pushed the boundaries of what was possible at the time.

I, for one, cannot wait to see what they come up with at MWC 2017 next month.
