Lenovo's Moto C undercuts the Moto G as one of the most affordable Android phones on the market

Lenovo has just announced two new budget smartphones from its Motorola-built Moto brand as the Moto C and Moto C Plus. Undercutting the popular Moto G, the duo are now the most affordable handsets in the Moto catalogue with an RRP under 100. And what's more, they both pack Android 7.0 Nougat.

The Moto C is available with several levels of connectivity; you can pick up a 3G edition or go for the full-blown 4G. Standard features across both data models include a 5in display at 845x480 pixels, microSD support, a 2,350 mAh battery, 1GB of RAM and both 5MP primary and 2MP secondary cameras. Each also comes in 8GB or 16GB onboard storage flavours.

There are some differences on the processor specs depending on what you pick. The 3G, 8GB storage variant costs €89 and features a quad-core, 32-bit MediaTek processor clocked at 1.3GHz. Meanwhile, at a slightly higher price of €99, you can grab the 4G version with a 64-bit quad-core MediaTek processor (1.1GHz). Naturally adding the higher 16GB storage tiers to either of these increases the price further.

Meanwhile, the Moto C Plus adds to the recipe even more - as per Lenovo's previous Moto "Plus" naming convention, this isn't a bigger phone, it has a better spec instead. The screen is the same 5in affair as the Moto C, but as a 1280x720p HD resolution. It also has a bigger 4,000mAh battery, and while the front-facing cam is the same 2MP setup (albeit with an LED), the rear is upgraded to 8MP. It packs a 64-bit MediaTek quad-core processor, 16GB of onboard storage, and microSD support, all for €119. It will have 1GB or 2GB of RAM but this is region dependent.

Both the Moto C and Moto C Plus will be available in Latin America, Asia, and Europe; a precise launch date is yet to be given, but it's understood the phones will arrive in late Spring.
