HTC's next flagship, the Ocean Note, is coming on January 12

A bunch of HTC-related leaks have all trickled out at once, with the news that the firm is poised to launch a new premium-grade phablet dubbed the "Ocean Note". HTC has announced it will be hosting a launch event on January 12, with the branding for said event being "for U" (a bit like Samsung Unpacked, we guess), and at the same time, leaked images and video (via Evan Blass, aka @evleaks) have also appeared via Weibo showing us what to expect.

According to details sources by 9To5Google, the Ocean Note will feature a similar design language to HTC's previous flagships such as the HTC 10, using a metal unibody. However, the rear panel uses a gloss finish metal with colour options apparently confirmed as black, white, gold, or blue. On top of this, the design incorporates not just one, but two "ticker" displays as well as the main touch display. The device seems to be extremely thin and leaked details suggest an "industry leading" camera.

A report from VentureBeat suggests the Ocean Note will have a similar spec line-up to the Google Pixel, you will recall that HTC made the Pixel on Google's behalf. The spec reportedly includes a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor with 4GB of RAM, and a 12.3MP Sony camera sensor - the very same one used for the Pixel.

With only a day to go before this thing drops, there's not long before the full story is revealed! Stay tuned for more.
