Losing data on your PC or Mac is a nightmare, but you can recover it – even stuff that you think is completely gone.

Everybody loses stuff on their computer. Whether accidentally deleting files, moving stuff between machines and missing something or, worse, because of a virus. It happens. No one escapes.

Most believe once this data is lost or deleted it’s gone for good. But this isn’t the case; data can ALWAYS be recovered. You just need the right tools to do it.

Not so long ago, I met a guy that was a digital forensics expert. He told me so much stuff about recovering data from hard drives and storage units that I now view computers as quasi-immortal.

Did you know you can retrieve information from a hard drive that has been in a fire? You can. Did you know smashing your hard drive to pieces in order to destroy does little to impact the information stored on it? Yep – data is a very mysterious thing.

I know when you lose something it’s annoying. Even more so if it’s a photos or something sentimental. However, there are tools out there that can help you retrieve lost data from your PC, mac or storage cards.

Today, we’re going to be looking at one such solution: Stellar Data Recovery.

Stellar Data Recovery does one thing and one thing only: it recovers lost data, either on your PC, Mac or SD cards. Data you thought was dead and gone. Data you’d given up on ever finding again – and this is pretty darn cool.

Once you have the software, you can:

  • Recover deleted or inaccessible files, documents, images, photos, databases, videos etc.
  • Search for lost or deleted volumes on Windows hard drive
  • Recover information from hard drives and removable media sources up to 2 TB.
  • Use it with Windows 10 /8.1 / 8/ Windows 7/ Vista / XP
  • There’s also a Mac version as well, which does much the same thing.

How Long Does Data Recovery Take?

You have two options when attempting to recover lost data on your PC: Normal and Advanced.

Normal is your basic search and recovery; it takes just a few moments to recover lost data and is ideal if you’re trying to locate something simple, like a lost photo album or deleted work document.

Advanced is for when you’re trying to recover something a little more complicated. You won’t need this option for the most part, as Normal is very powerful and will be perfectly suitable for 99.9% of users.

The software will easily work its way around incorrect hard drive partitioning or inefficient and/or faulty disk management, so even if you’re having BIG problems with your system, you will still be able to find and locate what you’re looking for.

Who Is This Data Recovery Software For?

Simple: everybody. If you work on a computer, which most of us do, losing data, either by accident or issue, is a very real issue we all face every day. Having software like this at your fingertips lessens the potential ramifications such a loss can have.

Case in point: a couple of years ago, my hard drive fried and I lost over 10000 word’s worth of material for a project I was working on. This was devastating at the time, and it was only through the miracle of having a good buddy that worked in IT that I got it fixed.

Back then I had no idea about software like this, which is why, these days, I do not take the chance. Once burnt, forever scarred! I learnt my lesson and vowed I would never let something like that happen again.

This is why software like Stellar Data Recovery is something everybody should either know about or own. It works on PC, Mac and with SD cards, so if you have an old SD card that you can’t access, you can use Stellar Data Recovery to pull the information off it.

I cannot emphasise just how important tools like this are in the modern world where data, and making sure its protected properly, is so important!.
