A full set of leaked renders has emerged, plus details of the specs, price, and release date of the Pixel 2 series

Some new renders of the Google Pixel 2 series have leaked online, and they're courtesy of Evan Blass, aka @evleaks, who has a good track record of leaking official product shots ahead of major releases. They certainly have that official look about them.

Blass has actually leaked the Pixel 2 series twice in a short space of time, first some images showing the Pixel XL 2 inside a case and then quickly followed up with a set of renders of both handsets in the series, showing both front and back of the devices while not wearing a case or with any other obstructions. The renders also confirm several of the colour options we saw leaked previously.

The render of the Pixel XL 2 inside a case shows us a frontal angle where we can see the enlarged display, some side-mounted controls, and the presence of dual stereo front-facing speakers.

Additionally, the render gives us a pretty clear look at Google's new interface design for the Pixel 2 generation. As you can see, the Google Search bar has been fixed in place between the app dock and the on-screen navigation controls.

Moving on to the non-case renders, which are a bit more interesting. As noted, they confirm the colours leaked before, with the Pixel XL 2 wearing a striking black-and-white contrasting colour scheme, while the Pixel 2 comes in white, black/grey, and light blue; all with a slightly contrasting dual-tone scheme.

In addition, this is probably the best look we've had of the front fascia of the handsets to date and it shows that although they feature an enlarged display to keep on trend - particularly the Pixel XL 2 -  it's not quite as "bezel-less" as many key rivals, with a reasonable amount of bodywork surrounding the screen. Still, it's taking up enough room to warrant the removal of front-mounted controls and fingerprint scanners, with the latter mounted on the rear panel. Once again, we also see the dual stereo speakers on the front.

Blass reaffirms that the Pixel 2 series, along with a bucket-load of other Google devices, will be launched at one event on October 4 this year - tomorrow at time of writing - so there's not long to wait. He also confirms specs for the Pixel 2 range in terms of Qualcomm's Snapdragon 835 processor, a 5in 1080p  16:9 display on the Pixel 2, and a 6in QHD+ 18:9 display on the Pixel XL 2. On top of this there's 4GB of RAM, 64GB/128GB storage and 12MP primary cameras on both - oh and he also confirmed the speakers too.

Price wise, Blass cites Droid Life with the following:

  • Pixel 2 64GB: $649/
  • Pixel 2 128GB: $749
  • Pixel 2 XL 64GB: $849
  • Pixel 2 XL 128GB: $949

He also said there will be a staggered release of October 19 for the Pixel 2 and November  15 for the Pixel 2 XL, both will have pre-order periods ahead of those dates, however.
