So you’ve seen the keynote and now you want a slice of Apple’s brand new iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X

The iPhone 8 and iPhone X series of phones are now official, following a very long-winded keynote speech direct from Apple’s new HQ in Cupertino.

The handsets, as expected, are pretty much exactly what we were expecting: two iPhone 7 updates and one brand new iPhone, which costs more than most laptops.

The iPhone X was the main event, the thing everybody was waiting for, and while the handset is very striking looking, a lot of people aren’t too impressed with Apple’s pricing – £1000 is a bit much for a phone.

The iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus, however, are respectably priced and feature almost all of the iPhone X’s new fancy specs and features. You can the INSANE A11 chipset, which will wipe the floor with everything once it arrives, an updated camera, and FACE ID.

“iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus are a new generation of iPhone that improves on everything we love about iPhone,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing.

“iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus have new glass and aluminum designs, new Retina HD displays and A11 Bionic — the smartest chip ever in a smartphone. Packed with more advanced cameras with Portrait mode and Portrait Lighting, and the highest quality video capture in a smartphone, iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus enable the freedom of wireless charging, all with AR optimization like no phone ever before.”

The iPhone X costs more because it looks different and features an OLED display. Apple knows its loyalists will pay whatever it depends, in fact, the more it costs the more it becomes something people will use to show off how much money (or bad credit debt) they have.

“For more than a decade, our intention has been to create an iPhone that is all display. The iPhone X is the realization of that vision,” said Jony Ive, Apple’s chief design officer. “With the introduction of iPhone ten years ago, we revolutionized the mobile phone with Multi-Touch. iPhone X marks a new era for iPhone — one in which the device disappears into the experience.”

Either way, Apple will sell a lot of iPhone X handsets and make a sickening amount of money in the process. The iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus will also be pretty popular too, as they both benefit from sizeable performance updates, though the Plus is definitely the one you want to go for if you’re going the non-iPhone X route.
